Under the floor
Moisture control for the wood under your house
Excess moisture feeds the fungi that rot wood and draws termites in. Whitco reduces it at the structure.
Chapter 01
Wood that stays wet does the termites' work for them
Under a brick ranch in the Henderson area, the floor framing sits over a crawl space and red clay. When moisture hangs down there, the wood takes it up, and wet wood is where wood-destroying fungi get started.
Whitco puts the problem in two lines on its own page: excess moisture feeds those fungi, and it invites termites. The fungi soften the wood on their own schedule, and the termites find soft, damp wood easier to work. Neither one is visible from the yard, which is why the damage tends to be found late.

Looking for where the water comes from
Moisture control at Whitco means reducing structural moisture, using what the company calls state-of-the-art tools and knowledge. The right fix depends on where the water is coming from, so the visit starts with looking at the structure, not with a standard package.
The same logic shows up in the pest work. Silverfish, for one, are handled with moisture control, because dampness is what keeps them around. A kitchen full of silverfish and a crawl space full of damp wood can be the same problem seen from two rooms. If the inspection finds active termites too, that work is described under termite control, and for the visible bugs there is pest control.

Chapter 03
Dry first, then keep an eye on it
A dry structure is a quieter one, and the yearly termite inspection is where Whitco looks again.
Oscar Dean's review shows how the two jobs travel: “Termite protection and humidity control work done. Easy to deal with and did quality work.” Humidity control and termite protection came up in the same review because they are two halves of the same house problem.
Susan Crews, who has Whitco on the quarterly service, also had termite inspections done on the home she sold and the home she remodeled. Both are moments when moisture in the framing is worth knowing about before a buyer's inspector or a contractor finds it. The six office lines, from Henderson to Durham, all reach a person.

Damp is usually the first half of a bigger story. The second half is on the termite control page, and the everyday visits that keep the rest of the house clear are under pest control.
